Sustainability

Whilst Rainbow Trays are created to offer the best in human factored design to support anaesthetists and improve patient safety, they also offer the best environmental and sustainable solution for syringe and ampoule storage.

In line with the Royal College of Anaesthetists and Association of Anaesthetists commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of anaesthesia, Rainbow trays are committed to the principles of the waste hierarchy; as detailed in our Sustainability Policy and Carbon Reduction Plan.

Sustainable Anaesthesia
Reusable, Recyclable, Responsible

• Rainbow Trays are reusable and easily cleaned using low environmental impact cleaning solutions.

• Whilst PET (the type of plastic they’re manufactures from) is bacteriostatic and resistant to pathogen growth, it is also optimised for sustainability. PET is the most recycled plastic globally and can support the circular economy for plastic waste. Rainbow trays contain an element of recycled material and are 100% recyclable.

• Rainbow Trays and their packaging are all recyclable and also comply with the new PPN06/21 requirements to support the NHS net zero supplier roadmap. We have a carbon reduction plan and will publish out carbon accounting results with a transparent and accountable carbon offset programme that responds to the potential environmental damage that plastics can create.

For safe recycling into new products

• No hassle
• No cost
• No environmental impact

We understand the frustration for healthcare workers who want to deal with waste generated at work in a sustainable way.

Whilst Rainbow Trays are 100% recyclable, there may not always be facilities to do this within their departments, so recyclable waste unnecessarily defaults to less sustainable and more expensive alternatives such as clinical waste.

Our new Rainbow Trays returns facility simply requires the return of Rainbow Trays in the original box using a pre-paid carriage label and we will do the rest.

From a linear to circular economy

Rainbow Trays are the only truly sustainable anaesthetic tray that offers a circular economy solution for plastic waste. Made from recycled plastic, Rainbow Trays can be reused and recycled at the end of their life to support a circular economy for medical plastic waste and deliver on NHS Net Zero targets.
